Michael P. Frederick
As a project manager based in our PLACE Alliance New York studio, Michael has worked on a variety of compelling projects since joining in the summer of 2015. His keen design sense contributed to the conceptual development and visualization of One Monument Square in downtown Troy, NY, Creek Walk Park in Tannersville, NY, and the Stockade Flood Mitigation Strategy in Schenectady, NY. He has facilitated and managed the construction of several successful campus enhancement projects on K-12 schools across the state of New York. Throughout each project he continues to take on expanded roles to provide the highest quality product possible while demonstrating the attention to detail, unique problem solving, and work ethic synonymous with the PLACE Alliance brand.
Prior to joining PLACE Alliance, he gained years of construction and design implementation experience in the landscape and construction field. He credits this experience in forming his holistic approach which balances practicality and creativity to achieve the most thorough and complete design. He is intrigued by the shifting scales and perspectives as a design concept moves from schematic concept to construction and uses his passion for placemaking and socially conscious design to realize that design potential.
Over the course of his educational and working career, he’s gained a true appreciation for our ability as designers to use context, innovation, and form to create ways for people to experience a space in a lasting and deliberate way. He believes that being privileged enough to call himself a designer means he is putting his name and his company’s name on the line to prove that their work is the best out there, and he thrives on that pressure.
Aside from his dedication to the craft and to our firm, Michael does have a life outside of work that he spends watching the Mets lose or playing in weekly beer league soccer games.
